Electrical Connection
ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS
Installation Codes:
Follow the requirements of the local authority having ju-
risdiction. In the absence of such requirements, follow
the latest edition of the National Electrical Code ANSI/
NFPA 70.
Label all wires prior to disconnection when
servicing controls. Wiring error can cause im-
proper and dangerous operation. Verify proper
operation after servicing.
!!
CAUTION
The water heater requires a dedicated electrical power
supply of 120 VAC/60Hz, and it must be properly
grounded to function.
Please refer to the Wiring Diagram. Note: There
is a copy located on the inside of the front panel
of the appliance.
A means for switching off the 120 VAC power
supply must be provided.
Wire the heater exactly as shown in the wiring
diagram.
To ensure complete filling of the tank, allow air to
exit by opening the nearest hot water faucet.
Allow water to run until a constant flow is
obtained. This will let air out of the water heater
and piping.
Check all new water piping for leaks. Repair as
needed.
WARNING
! !

WARNING
! !
Do not rely on the gas or water piping to ground
the metal parts of the water heater, because
plastic pipe or dielectric unions may isolate the
water heater electrically. Service and mainte-
nance personnel who work on or around the
water heater may be standing on wet floors, and
could be electrocuted by an un-grounded water
heater.
